No Later

Why we are put on this green earth is a question we may never know the answer to.

Not all of us, at any rate.

Some people find themselves faster than others, find themselves where they’re supposed to be faster than everyone else.

Others, like me, it takes years filled with more sadness and grief than joy and love.

No matter when we discover ourselves, the outcome is always the same.

The void of nothingness that swallows us once our mortality is stripped from our bodies.

What’s left behind?

Depends on who you ask.

Personally, I believe in the unbelievable.

Souls are the one thing that separates us from bacteria on a slide.

When we depart this mortal coil, as so eloquently put by better than me, our souls, little shards of light and dark, a mosaic precious and ugly, goes where it deserves to be.

Perhaps this is not the same as where it should be, but isn’t that the way of the world?

Nothing right, everything wrong.

Pessimistic or realistic?

Doesn’t really matter.

The point is that life is transient, live in the now.

You might not get a later.
